I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. I was fortunate to spend it with family and friends in Kansas and had a wonderful time in spite of one of our family getting COVID and exposing most everyone the night before Thanksgiving. It limited a few family members who weren’t exposed from joining us according to their comfort level & of course the COVID positive person didn’t join. So that was disappointing, but didn’t affect us from carrying on and having a great day together. In the end, none of us got sick, including my 94 yr. old mother. I am so grateful in spite of our different personalities, we can get together and make fun the objective. I am also so grateful for my lifelong friends I got to spend cherished time with. I only regret my husband was not able to join me, due to issues at our house that had to be tended to!

Before I left Kansas to return home, my lower back went out. It was a challenge to fly back to CA solo, but I managed with the help of some good people willing to assist & just meeting the right person at the right time. At my connection in Denver, in spite of my pain, I trudged to a coffee bar for a hot drink and the woman ahead of me in line had several extra coupons expiring that day, so she gleefully gifted me and several other travelers to a free tea or coffee. Which mad that process a whole lot easier and of course pleasant receiving such a gift! When life nearly disables you, it reminds you if you follow your heart and do only what is important you have all that you need and can receive what you truly want. I was so grateful for it all and glad to make it home to my husband and dogs where I could rest and begin healing.

When I returned home, I dug into a couple healing books (“Heal your Body” by Louise L. Hay & “Message From the Body” by Michael J. Lincoln, PH.D.) to see how I might have contributed to this injury with my thoughts and feelings. These books illustrate negative mental & emotional patterns associated with injury and illness. “Heal Your Body” also gives positive affirmations for assistance in change. From the book, I acknowledged the negative patterns & wrote down the positive affirmations to begin to think differently. Then I started to pay attention within, my thoughts and my outward attitude. In the end, I concluded I just needed to flow, let go of disagreement, judgement & discerning thoughts and feelings. Just flow. It helped me to become conscious of how I lock myself inside and create limitations & control. It pushed me to ask for help, relax/rest, allowing myself to heal, which was equally challenging as I saw my husband be left with all the responsibility. But I forced myself to flow and to ask for help when needed and not over do it. The interesting thing about an injury is when you get off track, the pain reminds you to get back into flow. I was also gifted with a very clear dream one evening where I met up with this psychic who shared me how I tend to choose the lesser of what I really want when given choices or in a fork in the road. When I woke up, I drew an Oracle Card – “Make a Choice!” Which also reminded me, when I don’t know, ask Spirit to help guide me. Gave me lots to think and pay attention to as I flowed. I am at a time in my life where change is sitting in front of me unfolding. What I am unclear of, I will turn over to spirit & trust I will find my answers and know my right actions.

When going into a more observational and listening mode, you learn so much about how you react to every day life. How you see things, what you think and feel about it, how you motivate your yourself and what you tell yourself and others. We often are so busy and on the go, we don’t stop to really notice the mental and emotional patterns we carry on a daily basis. If you are in a leadership role in any aspect of your life, you are usually forced to output more then observe and resonate in silence. I can tell you that being quiet and kind is a great exercise to build into your life on a regular basis. It can teach you so much about how you treat yourself and others. Things you don’t even realize you do because of the rote attachment to your perspective and relationships. Try it for an hour a day for a week and see what you learn about yourself and others. Try to involve others in the problem solving, information gather before decisions and gather more participation to see what unfolds.

Let’s see what the cards say: My question is: “What is it we need to know about changing our thought and emotions in relationships with people and life for better health?” I drew a card from the “Enchanted Map” by Collette Baron-Reid. The card I drew was “Education” in protection mode (upside down.) The decks book tells us, “Stubbornness and the desire to know it all and be right no matter what, will not get you what you want. Or could it be you are afraid to be seen as someone who knows less than you are supposed to? Or are you flying by the seat of your pants skimming, hoping no one will notice? A strident lust for certainty will never bring you the wisdom you seek. Life is filled with lessons, some bitter, some sweet.” I say – the gift of flow allows us to follow the mystery of our intuition and heart. It keeps life more in the adventure state & allows for magic & surprises. If you are silent and give yourself time to see the full picture before interacting you will gain more wisdom and your response will often be for the good of all instead of motivated by competitiveness or the ego. Magic can unfold and something new can occur between you and others if you are patient and tuned into your motivation before you speak or act. Sometimes it is good to be the silent one and others times it is good to be involved. Listen to your heart when is the right time for either. After all, for us to learn it helps to know when is the right time to be supportive, motivate others, passive or act. During this holiday season, is a good time to get in touch with your true role at social gatherings. Set your intentions every day & have fun exercising wisdom for the good of all!

Peace & Love, Susan
